Psychotherapist and writer Gita Mammen has worked with survivors of childhood abuse since the mid-1980s. She trained in medicine and psychiatry and her subsequent involvement with Complex Trauma has spanned public, private, academic and not-for-profit health sectors, and ministerial advisory committees on mental health and women’s health. Gita has written, spoken, taught and lobbied for better availability of complex-trauma-specific mental healthcare. Her previous book on the subject, After Abuse, 2006, was written for multidisciplinary health practitioners. Gita lives in Melbourne, Australia.
